How to use the blood pressure cuff correctly
To accurately determine blood pressure, the correct fit of the blood pressure cuff is crucial. Therefore, we offer numerous models in different widths to ensure a perfect blood pressure measurement. - Expose your upper arm and pull the cuff over it until the lower edge of the cuff is 2-3 cm above the crook of the arm.
- If measuring blood pressure on the right arm, the cuff must be turned to the left until the artery marking is aligned with the pulse point. This allows the air tube to run along the inside of the upper arm. When using the cuff on the left arm, the air tube runs along the middle of the crook of the arm to the device. This automatically positions the 4 cm long artery marker centrally over the pulse point without any further effort.
- Pull the blood pressure cuff tight enough to leave 2 finger widths of space and close the Velcro fastener.
- Check whether the measuring arrow on the cuff is within the "arm circumference marking" on the edge of the cuff.
- Place your patient's arm with the blood pressure cuff loosely outstretched with the palm of your hand facing upwards and ask them to keep their arm absolutely still during the measurement. The measurement can now be taken.
